FOLDS Sheng-Hsiung, HUNG|Book Design
This is artist Sheng-Hsiung Hung’s first printed publication. In designing the book, I chose a dual-volume structure—a large hardcover encasing a smaller booklet—to echo the recurring imagery of “shell” and “interior” in his work. The outer book acts as a protective layer, while the inner volume becomes the enclosed core, mirroring the structure of an egg: a firm exterior holding a softer interior, held together in a state of tension and interdependence.
Within this structure, the book becomes more than a vessel; it extends the artist’s way of thinking—layering outward, generating inward.
